B.K.S. Iyengar Through The Decades

We have been able to compile stunning, rare and historical photographs of B.K.S. Iyengar throughout his lifespan.  This is the first page which takes a look back at his life and yoga during the 1980s.  The subsequent decades can be found at the following pages:

B.K.S. Iyengar officially retired from teaching yoga in 1984, but continued to be active in the world of Iyengar Yoga, teaching special classes, giving lectures, and writing books.

It was in 1984 that he attended the First International Iyengar Yoga Convention in San Francisco. Today, there are nearly 1,000 certified Iyengar yoga teachers in the United States.
