The venue is home to Art’s Complex, a charitable organisation which aims to redress the imbalance between the number of artists working in Edinburgh and the affordable work-space that is available to them. It was a lengthy process between the years of 2008 and 2010 to secure leases for the various floors of the vacant St Margaret’s building.

Today, the space aims to inspire creativity in the local community through exhibitions, educational events and workshops, and through the it also week hosts a varying schedule of activities such as yoga, pilates and theatre. And of course there’s a range of studio and gallery spaces of all different sizes to hire for artists looking to exhibit their work in and around the city.
