Join Catherine Annis for a weekend of themed yoga workshops exploring the pioneering teachings of Vanda Scaravelli and discover the stress free yoga that works with the body to restore health, vitality and energy.

Scaravelli Inspired yoga is a gentle yet demanding form of Hatha yoga which focuses on developing core strength through releasing tension and creating length and space in the spine.  This practice works with breath and gravity to encourage the spine to unfold like a wave, allowing the uninhibited opening and energizing of the whole body.

During this weekend we’ll explore how this subtle approach releases and restores the natural flexibility of the body, maintaining overall health and a naturally supple spine.

Join us if you would like to:

Yoga Workshop 1:  Keep Calm and Carry On – finding peace in a stressful world

We live with tension every day.  It comes up in almost everything we do, in all circumstances and relationships.  Our reaction to that tension is the true test of our yoga, and the answers are hugely relevant in our everyday lives.  If we can exist with tension, be with ourselves in difficult, strenuous positions in our yoga practice, perhaps we can learn to stay calm and cool in the midst of a stressful situation in the office or with our loved ones.

Yoga Workshop 2:  From the ground up – looking at feet

Often overlooked, restricted in tight shoes, slammed into unforgiving pavements, perhaps it’s time to look again at our feet.  If we work intelligently with them, to open and expand, we can we experience a different relationship with the rest of our bodies?  In this practical workshop, discover the magical effect of unlocking the tiny joints within the feet.  Watch as you open these restricted areas to reveal spaces that lift up and extend your whole body, creating a sense buoyancy and elastic responsiveness as you walk.   Discover improved stability and support, extend and deepen your roots to feel the support of the ground, and learn how to receive the lightness and freedom that rises up from the earth.

Yoga Workshop 3:  Unwind Your Spine

All movement originates from within the spine.  If it moves with ease and fluidity, the whole body feels free.  Working with great sensitivity, gradually unfolding  the structures of the body – particularly the spine – we will discover how to release our powerful natural flexibility.  The result is effortless movement not simply within the asanas, but also in our daily lives.

This is an opportunity for everyone to discover or rediscover their spines, to release blockages and lengthen the body. Suitable for all levels, including those working to alleviate long term back pain, but not acute disc problems.

Yoga Workshop 4:  Breathing Space

At the end of the exhalation a space opens up … magically dissolving noise and thought. Within that space we discover a quiet that allows us to observe and experience ourselves with complete equanimity. We become peaceful. We are able to move ourselves, shifting physically and psychologically, with a miraculous ease. Tension falls away, the texture of the body changes, and with it we experience a sense of deep and profound stillness.  During this session, we’ll wind down, focusing on the movement of the breath, and ending with a gentle meditation.
