Vanda Scaravelli Inspired Yoga Immersion Course with Catherine Annis
This unique “Scaravelli Inspired Yoga Immersion course” was constructed and developed by Catherine Annis and has been successfully running annually since 2009. It is the only course to combine Vanda Scaravelli’s teachings with those of her friend and mentor, Jiddu Krishnamurti, whose philosophy runs right through Vanda’s innovative and very modern approach.
Designed specifically for yoga teachers, yoga teacher trainees and anyone with a serious interest in exploring their practice more deeply. This Scaravelli yoga immersion course is an exclusive opportunity to explore teaching yoga as inspired by the work of Vanda Scaravelli.
Scaravelli Inspired Yoga Immersion Course – 14-18th May, 2014
with guest teachers Gary Carter and David Skitt
This approach to yoga is unique and challenging – both to practice, and to teach. Each day we’ll look at a different aspect, so that you leave with clear, logical ideas and suggestions on how to work and teach, a fresh way of looking at the body and the postures, and inspiration for your teaching and practice.
We will look at Vanda Scaravelli’s thoughts on yoga, and explore how we can use her teachings to inspire us on our path – in yoga, and in life.
Last year’s decision to offer this as a fully residential course proved so successful that Catherine is once again following this structure. The next immersion course will run over 5 days in May 2014, and we’ll be staying at Gayle’s Retreat, a simple and beautiful retreat centre, set deep in the heart of the countryside on the East Sussex coast, and just a short walk from the beach.
During each session, we will examine and unravel our experiences, discovering and revealing new skills and a deeper understanding of our bodies, and, ultimately, ourselves. Join this course to:
- deepen your understanding of anatomy and structural relationships, the mechanics of movement and breath.
- discover a fresh, modern approach to yoga that will radically transform your practice and teaching.
- incorporate and relate Krishnamurti’s teachings into yoga.
- learn ways to remove undue effort and tension, and help restore the body’s natural health, vitality and energy.
Gayles is a picturesque retreat centre ideally situated in outstanding countryside on the South Downs, five miles from Eastbourne and fifteen from Brighton. Here rural doesn’t mean hard to reach; there are excellent train services from the nearby towns that provide direct travel to and from London Victoria, Gatwick, Ashford International, Brighton and so on. Gayles is just one-and-a-half hour drive from London and there is a regular bus service that conveniently stops beside the entrance. For European visitors there is a ferry service to and from mainland Europe from Newhaven, which is only a twenty-minute drive away from retreat.
