Scaravelli Inspired Yoga Immersion Course
Following the success of this year's Immersion, I'm delighted to be repeating the course next year. Aimed at teachers, teacher trainees and anyone who is considering becoming a teacher, it will give you a unique and valuable insight into teaching yoga as inspired by the work of Vanda Scaravelli. This approach to yoga is unique and challenging - both to practice, and to teach. Each module will look at a different aspect of the work, so that you leave with clear, logical ideas and suggestions on how to work and teach, a fresh way of looking at the body and the postures, and inspiration for your teaching and practice. We will look at Vanda's thoughts on yoga, and explore how we can use her teachings to inspire us on our path - in yoga, and life. It is the only course to combine Scaravelli's teachings with those of her friend and mentor, Jiddu Krishnamurti, whose philosophy runs right through Vanda's innovative and very modern approach.

Catherine will be joined for this teacher training by two other leading teachers in this field: John Stirk, who will be teaching experiential anatomy, and David Skitt who will help us understand more about Krishnamurti's work.
Conveniently held at Triyoga's studios in Soho, It will run over three weekends, spread across a three month period, beginning in January 2010.
During each weekend, we will examine and unravel our experiences, discovering and revealing new skills and a deeper understanding of our bodies, and, ultimately, ourselves. Join this course and:
- deepen your understanding of anatomy and structural relationships, the mechanics of movement and breath.
- discover a fresh, modern approach to yoga that will radically transform your practice and teaching.
- incorporate and relate Krishnamurti’s teachings into yoga.
- learn ways to remove undue effort and tension, and help restore the body’s natural health, vitality and energy.

Catherine Annis
Catherine was originally a professional dancer and has been practising yoga for nearly 30 years. Originally studying Iyengar, Ashtanga and various forms of Hatha yoga, she eventually gravitated to the teachings of Vanda Scaravelli. She holds a Masters degree in ballet studies and is a qualified Thai massage practitioner, and it is this interest in the body which informs and inspires her teaching. Her daily yoga practice and teaching focuses on deepening physical awareness and alignment to reveal and release the natural freedom of the body, particularly the spine.
John Stirk
John Stirk’s work has evolved over a period of 35 years. He has taught yoga for 34 years and practised osteopathy for 25 years. He taught remedial classes to students at the Royal Academy of Dance in London, and conducted body-mind workshops with R.D. Laing in the late 1970’s. John had personal tuition from Vanda Scaravelli for several years and provided yoga teacher training courses in London from 1998-2004. He is the author of two books, ‘Soft Exercise’ published in 1983 and ‘Structural Fitness’ published in 1988.
David Skitt
David Skitt worked for many years in Paris at the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development and the European Space Agency. During this time he studied Buddhism for twelve years and for several of them was Chairman of the Institute of Tibetan Studies at Vevey in Switzerland. He became a trustee of the Krishnamurti Foundation at Brockwood Park in Hampshire in 1986, and has put together and edited ten Krishnamurti books and discussed Krishnamurti’s teaching with audiences in several countries. He practises his own form of yoga, drawn from various sources and has always had a strong interest in exploring how, in everyday life, human consciousness interacts with our physiology |
