Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone renowned as one of world’s famous pop divas and frequently referred to as the Queen of Pop Music was born in Bay City, Michigan, on August 16, 1958.
In 1979, she became part of the Patrick Hernandez Revue, a disco outfit who had the hit “Born to Be Alive,” which traveled her to Paris.
After landing on the dance charts in ’82, Madonna releases her self-titled debut album, which includes radio perennials “Lucky Star” and “Holiday.” “Borderline” becomes the first in a string of 13 consecutive Top 5 hits, a winning streak bettered only by Elvis and the Beatles.
Madonna’s popularity was further enhanced by her film roles; she won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for Evita (1996) while most of her other films have been panned by critics. Her other ventures include fashion design, writing children’s books, and filmmaking. She has been acclaimed as a businesswoman, particularly after she founded entertainment company Maverick (including the label Maverick Records) in 1992 as a joint venture with Time Warner.
Madonna & Yoga
Yoga has been a big part of her lifestyle and health for many years now. In the early years she quickly realised the benefits that yoga had to offer and has never looked back since.
“Yoga is a metaphor for life. You have to take it really slowly. You can’t rush. You can’t skip to the next position. You find yourself in very humiliating situations, but you can’t judge yourself. You just have to breathe, and let go. It is a workout for your mind, your body and your soul.” Madonna….
Through Madonna openly promoting yoga as a great means to stay in great shape, she has encouraged thousands of her followers to take up yoga for themselves.
